Yep, the #22 WeatherTech Porsche run by Porsche stalwarts Alex Job Racing has left the series. As has the #73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche, but just for the next race, which is at VIR. Both teams claim that the Porsche 911 GT3 R has been given an unfair Balance of Performance. However, the #23 Alex Job Racing/Team Seattle Porsche is currently second in points standings. Go figure. Oh and Porsche got the pole, fastest lap, and second place in GTD at Road America.

I don’t think it’s a BoP issue. I think it’s a driver issue. Hell, even Porsche has said that the teams are making these calls, not them.

So, the car carring the title sponsor just left the series. Should IMSA worry? No, not yet. WeatherTech CEO and father to one of the drivers in the #22 Porsche said it was a competition decision, not a business decision. Kinda makes it sound like someone complained to daddy.

Now, on the sponsor withdrawing their car front, Tequila Patron (who sponsored the American Le Mans Series and sponsor the IMSA North American Endurance Cup) and Extreme Speed Motorsports owner Ed Brown had this to say:

Yeah... Your thoughts, Oppo?

If they left because of BOP, that’s weak. BOP is subject to change, so keep at it and lobby for a change in your favor. Also maybe, just maybe, Leh Keen was the better driver and they shouldn’t have canned him. Money only takes one so far.
